Where are you from?
Originally I’m from the suburbs of Seattle, Washington—a little town called Woodinville. I’ve been in New York for six years and live in Brooklyn.
What was the first play you were ever in?
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at Woodinville Rep. I was 8 years old and if I remember correctly I played an angel.
How would people describe you in three adjectives?
Independent. Passionate. Intuitive.
Where have you gone to school/trained?
I went to Willamette University in Salem, Oregon where I got my BA in Theatre and Spanish, I also studied in the classical program at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Additionally, I spent several seasons at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey both in training programs and on the main stage, the folks I met there really lit the fire of my Shakespeare obsession.
What is your favorite role you’ve played or show you’ve worked on?
Actually, I just worked with Titan on a touring production of Midsummer, I played Hermia/Snug and I’ve honestly never had more fun or laughed harder in a rehearsal process. But in college we did a double billing of Albee’s The Sandbox and The American Dream, I played Grandma. As an actor I tend to be fairly text-focused, and working on a role that required so much physical transformation actually changed my approach to the work as a whole.
What actors do you most admire?
I always find this question so difficult, there’s a sea of people from whom I borrow ideas and admire—too many to choose just one. I still think about Katrina Lenk’s performance in Indecent. I just finished a Spanish tv series on Netflix called Cable Girls, and the lead Blanca Suárez is supremely talented.
Why are you excited to be joining The Journeymen Company with Titan?
Several years before I even got in a room with anyone from Titan I had worked with a few people who had done their infamous “out of a hat” Midsummer. I thought, these people are insane—and I want to be on that level.
What is your favorite Shakespeare/Classical play?
The Henry VI pt I, II, and III. You have everything you could ever want! A weak and hapless king, a powerful Queen (Margaret has my heart forever), Joan of Arc, Richard (and therefore several questionable murders), massive speeches, powerful lady parts, sexy time/jealousy/armed conflict. It’s very Game of Thrones. A very very close second would be Cymbeline! (How can I pick just one?!)
Okay. I think this is an important question for all Titan’s Journeymen, since what you contribute to the company is pretty super: who is your favorite SUPERHERO?
Honestly, I didn’t have a reason to care about super heroes until recently. I am thrilled by everything that is Wonder Woman. I cried almost the entire movie.
Last but not least, since Titan is a classical company, who did you get on the NPR "What Shakespeare Character are You?" Quiz?
I got Romeo.
